I am an associate professor of History at Penn State University. My research area is Islamic history and I focus on Islamic Iberia and North Africa c. 700-1500. I teach a variety of courses on the Middle East. I
recently developed an undergraduate seminar, with a digital humanities twist, on Americans in the Middle East in the nineteenth century.
